This great La Fabriseria also endorses the excellent style of winery Tedeschi , one of the very best wineries from the Valpolicella. This La Fabriseria is made from late harvest grapes from vineyards located about 500 meters above sea level, with very low temperatures at night. The Tedeschi family is famous for its wines based on dried grapes, and also wanted to reach the absolute top in dry red wines made from grapes without any form of drying and without Ripasso - the fermentation on the skins of dried grapes. . The Rosso della Fabriseria is the result of this. Only the very best grapes from the domain have been used for this wine. The native Corvina has the largest share in this special wine. This grape is supplemented with Rondinella and a dash of Cabernet-Sauvignon, for firmness. Aging in oak barrels of various sizes completed the work.
A great wine, beautiful ruby red in color, with aromas of intense cherry fruit, jam, plum, vanilla and flowers. In the mouth a rich, complex taste with lots of fruit and juice (cherries, blackberries), nice lively acidity, a fine bitterness, currants, with light tannins. This wine is wonderfully ripe and well balanced. 94/100 Suckling for the 2017 vintage.
This La Fabriseria tastes excellent with game dishes (hare, roe) and other beautiful meat dishes such as sirloin steak. Also delicious with a (dessert with) cheese board.
Tedeschi is one of the undisputed highlights of the Valpolicella. Not only the wines from dried grapes, but also the 'normal' Valpolicellas may count as specialties of the family business Tedeschi. Father Renzo has now handed things over to his son Riccardo, who is now putting the finishing touches. This newly new generation gives the company some extra impulses, for example with a surprising new Valpolicella. Partly due to the maturation of eight or ten months in French oak, Riccardo creates an unrecognizable powerful Valpolicella, something completely different from the light wine we are used to. This wine comes from Fabriseria's own vineyard, from which a fantastic Amarone is harvested in peak years.
Tedeschi makes a wide range of wines, not only red, but also white from grapes from neighboring regions such as Soave and Bianco die Custoza. Some of the grapes are purchased from other producers. In that case, Tedeschi exercises intensive supervision during the growing season on the state of affairs in the vineyard. The best wines come from our own vineyards from the heart of the region, the Valpolicella Classico. With a few other producers, Tedeschi is committed to stricter rules for Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto. It is rightly believed here that wines based on too high yields, originating from the fertile Po area, are actually unworthy of the DOC Valpolicella. And these wines certainly do not match the perfectionism of special Valpolicella producers such as Fratelli Tedeschi.
