2019 Prosper Maufoux Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois

Meursault is the most famous village for the production of great white wines in the Côte d'Or. Located south of Pommard, the excellent quality of Premiers Crus compensates for the absence of Grands Crus in the village. The plot of La Pièce Sous le Bois is located on top of the hill overlooking Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet what is known as the Hameau de Blagny. The vines here form a basin rich in white marl. The hamlet is on the border with Puligny-Montrachet and is the highest point of Meursault, at 330 meters, on the edge of the forest. The vines that form the small. Immediately after the manual harvest, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches in a pneumatic press and then the juice is given a static sedimentation of 24 hours at 12°C. The must is then put directly into barrels in which the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new barrels.

The Prosper Maufoux Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois' is a beautiful medium-to-full bodied and very elegant wine. Tension and power characterize this wine. Very nice nose with flint, hints of spice and toast. These aromas are repeated in the mouth with salty notes. Don't drink this beautiful wine too cold - that's a shame. Ideal serving temperature is 10-12°. This is of course a wine ideally suited to Shellfish / Oysters / Seafood. Try with fried crayfish or a delicious grilled sole.
