2017 Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone
One of the best Vino Nobile wines from Montepulciano. In order to get the very best quality, this wine is produced exclusively in the very best vintages. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 'Asinone' 2015 is valued by Robert Parker's Italy expert Antonio Galloni with 94 points and is a beauty of a wine.
The Vino Nobile Asinone is generally made for 100% from the well-known Tuscan grape variety - Sangiovese. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 350 meters near the old town of Montepulciano. The soil type is clay with stones. After picking and fermentation for 16 to 18 days, the aging process is continued in French oak barriques for a period of 16 to 18 months. The vineyards for the production of the Asinone were planted in 1963 and 1991 respectively. In the nose we smell black fruits, plums, vanilla. The taste has a strong attack with black fruit, vanilla, complex, minerals, a lot of concentration, ripe tannins, but after the first attack the wine becomes amazingly fresh with a lot of liveliness and freshness. The wine is not a blockbuster but a wine with a lot of finesse.
