2017 Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes BIO
Remi Jobard, son of Charles Jobard and cousin of François Jobard, was inspired by these legendary brothers and eventually took over the helm of this remarkable domain. And as so often in Burgundy, a famous family name has an enviable assortment of vineyards. When tasting these wines it immediately becomes clear how amazing his Burgundy are. Not surprising since all his Burgundy plots directly border on Villages Meursault or 1er Cru Meursault. The domain currently comprises 8 hectares of vineyards. No herbicides or perticides have been used since 1994, but Remi decided to raise the quality level to an even higher level by switching to organic viticulture. Since 2011 all vineyards are also certified organic. In addition, he applies the longest fermentation of everyone in Meursault, namely 2 months. He even moves the barrels outside where it is colder so that the fermentation takes as long as possible. The result is refinement, elegance and an enormous storage potential.
The Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes is a 100% chardonnay coming from an organically certified vineyard. The grapes have fermented for no less than 2 months (the longest fermentation in Burgundy) and then ripen in 70% used oak barrels and in 30% new oak. The Les Charmes Premier Grandcru comes from a small plot ideally located just below Clos des Perrières's. Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes unfolds in the glass with a beautiful bouquet of pear, lemon zest, little honey and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a nice depth, concentration and balanced acids. This organic Meursault is so beautiful that you should definitely not drink it too cold (between 10-12 degrees).
