The result of a rigorous selection at every stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this large, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Structured and with tannins, but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé. Over time, the wine develops a delicate and complex bouquet. Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and a dash of Petit Verdot of 1%, the Montrose wine from 2017 has been allowed to age in 60% new and 40% year-old oak barrels where it has been aged for 18 months. stayed in. This grand cru represents 37% of the total production of the estate. Deep garnet purple in color, the nose takes some time to unfold before revealing an impressively flamboyant core of black cherry preserves, warm cassis and baked plums with hints of red currant jelly, dark chocolate, licorice, cardamom plus a soft touch of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a fantastic intensity with a very elegant, modest weight, with super-ripe, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness around a stunning array of gorgeous black fruits. This is an incredibly stylish, balanced and sophisticated Montrose!

The wine has considerable aging potential and has an exceptionally long shelf life. Certain vintages (1921, 1929, 1982, 1990, 2009) are considered legendary, and the 2017 has one of the highest ratings ever with a drinking window up to 2060+
