The homogeneity of the terroir combined with the highest standards make Château de La Grille "the exception of Chinon". Immediately recognizable by its bottle, a replica of an 18th century champagne bottle, this wine sets the tone for the style and complexity of this “luxury Chinon”.
The 2017 Château de la Grille Rouge is a 100% Cabernet Franc! After maturing for 15 months in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks (50/50), the wine matures for another 2 years in the bottle before being released.
On the nose generous red and black fruit, especially fresh figs and blackberries, interspersed with notes of toasted wood, ink, vanilla and some spice. Spicy in the mouth, but round and juicy black fruit with a long, complex finish with a very noticeable freshness. A great wine with a lot of potential to keep. Top quality from the Loire.
