The Brandini winery is located in Piemonte in the town of La Morra, about 30 kilometers from Alba. The Italian region is known for its truffles and the great Barolo wines. The company is led by two very energetic ladies: Serena and Giovanna Bagnasco. They are convinced that growing grapes and making wine in an organic way is more a way of life than a production method. The ladies believe in the philosophy of treating the earth well and leaving it better than they found it. In addition, they are very committed to the quality of their wines.
Agricola Brandini has 18 hectares of vineyards located between La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba. Serena and Giovanna make a great range of high quality wines including Barolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo, Arneis and sparkling wines including Moscato d'Asti. This Barolo comes from the heart of the Barolo region, namely from the famous town of La Mora. Of course this is a 100% Nebbiolo. After manual picking from the organically managed vineyard (single vineyard), the wine first matured for 30 months in large oak barrels and then received another 6-8 months of bottle aging before it became available.
This wine was previously called Resa56, but from the 2014 vintage the wine has been shortened to R56. That name refers to a single vineyard Grand Cru plot with a sunny southwest exposure in the La Morra sub-zone of the appellation. The vineyard wholly owned and managed by Agricola Brandini surrounds the domain. It has a unique microclimate formed by altitude, ventilation, clayey and sandy soil and an aggressive pruning with significant reduction of the grapes. It only matures in large barrels to keep all the unique terroir characteristics intact.
The Barolo R56 is a bright and polished expression that shows an impressive level of fruit intensity and purity. in the nose we smell herbs, red fruit roses. in the mouth the wine is harmonic and for a barolo already very balanced and ready to drink. In line with the vintage characteristics, the mouthfeel is on the light side, but that is why it is so elegant. Production is only a few thousand bottles. This grandcru Barolo is a wine to enjoy. Let it drink slowly and open the bottle 1-2 hours before serving.
