Termes is the first expression of the typical Toro terroir of Bodega Numanthia. The wine is named after the village of Tiermes, which, like Numancia, resisted the Roman occupation. Termes is a stylish, lively wine from the Tinta de Toro grape, from 30-year-old vines. The extreme weather conditions in the Toro region – only 350 to 400mm of precipitation per year, scorching hot summers and bitingly cold winters – provide grapes of exceptional quality. After a long fermentation with the skins, the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The result is a powerful harmonious wine with a nice lively freshness full of fruit.
The Termes was launched on the market with another 12 months of bottle aging. In the glass, the wine is cherry red with purple highlights. In the nose complex and persistent notes of red fruit, raspberry and red currant, with fresh aromatic herbs such as thyme and eucalyptus. In the mouth, the Termes of Numathia is a lively wine with a surprisingly fresh and fruity attack followed by a full body. The wine has nicely integrated round tannins with an intense aftertaste for a very elegant and balanced wine.
