2017 Alvear Tres Miradas Vino de Pueblo
The white wines from the Andalusia (Cadiz / Jerzez / Malaga) region are on the rise. In the past these were the important wines, but in recent decades the focus has been mainly on sherry. Well-known names such as Victoria Ordonez and Valdespino again make the authentic beautiful dry white wines made from Pedrox Ximenez or Palominio grapes
Old and venerable, that's what you may call the Alvear family business, founded in 1729. This bodega is located in southern Spain, in the DO Montilla-Moriles, close to the Jerez sherry area. Due to the long, hot and dry summers, the grapes are planted on the slopes of the Montilla y Moriles ridge, so that they cool off at night. The star grape of Alvear is pedro ximénez. It can withstand the heat well and is used to the very poor, lime-rich soils that are typical of this area. In Jerez they make the dry wines from the palomino fino grape. Because Alvear uses pedro ximénez, their wines are fuller and rounder in taste. Very tasty and definitely recommended!
This young Pedro Ximenez has matured for 8 months. It is a blend of their six wines that are also bottled separately. The PX grapes come from the vineyards of the Riofrio and Cerro Macho zones of Montilla. The wine matures for eight months under a veil of yeast (flor). The effect of the flor is still very subtle and develops even further in the bottle. A beautiful, very dry nose with typical limestone tones in the mouth. The wine has a high purity and a long finish. The wine is different than usual and is special and is a very nice enjoy wine and gastronomic very nice with seafood but also very tasty with Iberico Ham and then of course the real Bellota.
