The seventh vintage reveals the unique expression of DO's Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Millahue Valley's multiple microclimates influence the wine's deep complexity, linear acidity and delicate freshness. The cooling often humid coastal breezes from the cold Pacific Ocean temper the hot afternoons and provide cool nights, resulting in Cabernet Sauvignon which is elegant, powerful and dynamic and Cabernet Franc which is delicate and distinctly mineral.

The VIK is the top model and is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc. The vines are planted on very different terroirs (limestone, sandy pebble) with a density of 7,500-10,000 vines per hectare. After manual harvesting in 10 kg baskets and a rigorous selection of the grapes by hand on selection tables, the must was macerated for 16-35 days (depending on the grape variety) at 27°-29°C, with regular bâtonnage, of course. . The malolactic fermentation was carried out in barriques. The grape varieties were vinified separately, which was aged for no less than 26 months in oak according to the Barroir principle and only mixed by the oenologists after extensive tasting. The wine was only released at the end of 2021 and advice is to open it from 2023 but with a little more time the wine will improve even further.

The nose is aromatic, floral and very refined. On the palate, the wine is lively and tense with silky, round, fine-grained tannins and aromas of ripe blackcurrant, red plum, with wild thyme on the finish. Very concentrated flavor without being too heavy or alcoholic. Complete top wine. This is one of the finest Cabernet wines that can easily compete with the finest Napa Valley and Bordeaux wines. Suckling writes in his rating (99/100): ".....This is a fabulous wine with dark berries, dark chocolate and freshly cracked walnuts. ...."

Of course this is an ideal wine with the most refined meat, but in fact this wine is so beautiful that it should actually be drunk solo. This wine deserves your full attention.

About Viña Vik Winery

In 2004, Alex and Carrie Vik started a whole team with the audacious goal of making one of the best wines in the world. After a two-year search, the best terroir was found, located in Chile's Millahue Valley. Millahue Valley means "Place of Gold".

Planted in the interior of the valley, the vineyard offers a variety of terroirs and small microclimates cooled by the coastal breeze. The vineyards consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.

The winery was designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic in collaboration with Alex and Carrie Vik. It has been carefully designed to have minimal impact on the landscape. A state-of-the-art, highly sustainable, technologically creative and visually breathtaking experience. In 2014 the winery was ready.

Under the leadership of the Chilean Patrick Valette (wine consultant, Château Pavie and with French roots) and involved in the project from the start, current winemaker Cristián Vallejo has set up a beautiful company since 2005. We work very sustainably, harvesting is completely manual and the fermentation takes place naturally without added yeasts.

Today VIK produces four exceptional red wines and a rosé. They are justifiably very proud that VIK, La Piu Belle, Milla Cala and "A" have received ratings well into the 90s, including 99 points from James Suckling, a Masters Medal from The Drink Business and platinum and gold medals of the Decanter, along with many other awards.

A water level in the wine cellar cools the barrel cellar without consuming energy. The translucent roof allows daytime work without artificial light. Inspired by the purity of our wines, we have developed the concept of "Barroir". We roast used and new French barrels with oak from our hills and build our own barrels in our cooperage. Crafted by the estate, these barrels embody the taste of the terroir. Since they approach all work holistically, they only use fallen centennial trees that can be found on the immense estate.

In 2019, Wine Enthusiast Magazine unveiled their 20th Annual Wine Star Awards and named VIK the Wine Star for 'Best Winery Experience'. In 2021 the competition ranked VIK as the 8th prestigious winery among the 50 World's Best Vineyards and iViña Vik has thus very quickly joined the icon wines from Chile and now also among the worldwide top.
