2016 Tenuta di Ghizzano Veneroso BIO
Veneroso is one of the showpieces of the beautiful Italian winery Tenuta di Ghizzano from Tuscany . The winery describes this wine as "historic" and "most representative of the estate." The Veneroso was first produced in 1985 and has since expressed very well the beautiful characteristics of the terroir where it was born, in particular the elegant, ripe fruit and beautiful mineral content. The Venerosi has thus become a real frame of reference for the wine-growing region. The wine is made from 70% Sangiovese grapes and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon .
The vineyards are located in Peccioli (Pisa) and are about 180 to 200 meters above sea level with a south, southwest orientation. As befits a good organic and biodynamic winery, these vineyards are also surrounded by the Tenuta di Ghizzano wine estate with the utmost care. The grapes are picked exclusively by hand and then a further bunch selection follows on the table. The grapes are traditionally pressed with the feet, after which fermentation with natural yeasts takes place in 3000 liter wooden barrels at a controlled temperature of about 28°-30°C. The wine then matures for 16 months in 500 liter oak barrels.
Beautiful red wine with a nice character. Elegant and soft aromas of black fruit, leather, licorice and a hint of tobacco. Nicely polished mouthfeel, full fruity taste with a friendly aftertaste. Like the other wines from this winery, this wine is also certified organic and has the "Suolo e Salute" certificate. Goes very well with beef, lamb and veal and poultry.

Tenuta di Ghizzano is located in Ghizzano, close to the Tuscan coast, about 40 km from Livorno and 40 km south of Pisa. The area is also called Colline Pisane (Hills of Pisa). The wine estate is certified organic and biodynamic with an ancient history and famous for their terroir-driven wines. People do not like artifice and believe that a condition for a good wine must be the vineyard and a top wine therefore comes from a top vineyard. The wines of Tenuta di Ghizzano are all gems and of a high level, which is also unanimously confirmed by the wine critics.
