Bordered by Meursault to the north and Chassagne-Montrachet to the south, the Puligny-Montrachet appellation is at its heart
of the world's best Chardonnay terroir, including the famous Montrachet. Located just above the "Champgains", on limestone
and marl soil, the vineyard "La Garenne" benefits from an ideal location on the southeast. At that time a "garenne" was a forest
surrounded by walls, owned by the lords for hunting small game and more particularly rabbits, hence the expression "lapin de
Garenne".

Immediately after the manual harvest, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches in a pneumatic press and then the juice is allowed to settle for 24 hours at 12°C. The must is then put directly into barrels in which the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.

The Prosper Maufoux Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru 'La Garenne' is rich with the typical aromas of La Garenne: buttery, lemony with notes of exotic fruits and spices and a hint of salt in the aftertaste. Do not drink this beautiful wine too cold - that is a shame. Ideal serving temperature is 12-14° This is of course a wine ideally suited to Shellfish / Oysters / Seafood, Fish, White meat and poultry. Try monkfish in turmeric and coriander

Vineyard for 2016 Prosper Maufoux Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru La Garenne

Prosper Maufoux was founded by its name bearer in 1860 in Santenay, in the south of the Côte d'Or, where it remained in the hands of the Maufoux family for almost a century and a half in 1994. In 1860, Prosper Maufoux, a notary by profession, left his office to devote himself to his passion for wine. He founded his own house in Santenay, a Burgundian village in the south of the Côte d'Or, in the heart of the vineyards. His son Cyprien looked beyond the borders and brought Prosper Maufoux wines to the tables of England, the Netherlands, and the United States. He created a culture of openness to the world at home. The takeover in 2010 by Eric Piffaut resulted in significant investments in the winery, which resulted in a huge increase in quality. Prosper Maufoux is currently housed in the Château de Saint-Aubin, where there is plenty of room to guarantee the qualities achieved for the future. Towards the great growth in the south of the Côte de Beaune, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, between Chassagne and Puligny, and the immediate vicinity of Montrachet.

Whether by regional appellations or Grand Crus, Prosper Maufoux's requirements for cultivation, grapes, vinification or maturation always tend to bring out the best in each of the terrains. The wines are aged in oak barrels whose age, origin, and toast are carefully combined and adapted to the origin of the grapes and the vintage. They rest for 12 to 18 months in the vaulted cellars; an environment most conducive to development. The care taken at every stage of production is regularly rewarded with numerous medals and awards. The exceptional vineyards of Maison Prosper Maufoux extend into the mythical terroirs of the Côte de Beaune: Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The family domain also extends to the Côte de Nuits, the Côte Châlonnaise and the Mâconnais.
