Another beautiful Barolo wine from the Italian top wine house Paolo Scavino. Through his years of experience, Enrico Scavino recognized the quality of this undiscovered beautiful cru. That is why he decided to buy it in 2001. By coincidence, this cru was the only cru of the entire estate that had not been damaged by the hail in 2002, making it debut as a solo with already a lot of personality and potential even in such a difficult year.
The Barolo Bricco Ambrogio comes from the largest single-vineyard plot of the Scavino family and covers 5 hectares. The wine is a more structured and tannic expression of the Nebbiolo grape that could certainly use some extra years of aging in the cellar to take the taste to even greater heights. The wine is full-bodied, concentrated with luscious fruit flavors that separate in thick, juicy layers. Beautiful intense aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, leather and spices.
The Bricco Ambrogio has an intense and versatile aromatic spectrum. The core is soft and polished by a beautiful acid-tannin balance. There is an underlying depth to this Barolo and the finish is long and nuanced. This wine also received a nice Parker rating of 94/100 Parker & 97/100 Suckling points.
This wine goes well with red meats (grilled/roasted), lamb, game fur and cheeses that have a rich and strong flavour.

Paolo Scavino winery is a historic winery in the Italian region of Barolo. It was founded in Castiglione Falletto in 1921 by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Agriculture has always been a family tradition and passion of the Scavino family.
Now Enrico Scavino runs the family domain together with his daughters Enrica and Elisa, the 4th generation. He already worked in the winery in 1951 when he was only 10 years old. A young winemaker who has inherited the passion and dedication of his country. Through more than 60 years of experience, his focus has been on investing in Nebbiolo's major cru to demonstrate the uniqueness of each terroir. The working method of this beautiful winery is inspired by the love and respect they have for their terroirs. Their pursuit of purity of expression, complexity and elegance for their wines is also a great source of inspiration. The winery works with the 3 local grapes Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo.
Paolo Scavino winery owns 29 hectares in the Barolo area, and works on 20 historic Barolo crus in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno and Roddi. The Scavino family stands out for their meticulous care of the vineyards and their passion for the terroir. They focus on the care of the vines in order to grow ripe and healthy grapes. When making the wine, minimal interventions are pursued to preserve the natural diversity of the terroir.
