2016 La Chapelle de Lafaurie Peyraguey Sauternes

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a very old wine producing estate of 36 hectares. It is located in the heart of the Sauternes region just outside the village of Bommes. Maisons Rouges (part of Lafaurie-Peyraguey) was a Roman staging post and the oldest stones of the wall and entrance, believed to be the oldest structure in the commune of Bommes, dating from the 13th century. The richness of the remains and the archival material preserved at the castle testify to the rich heritage of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey: eight centuries of history preserved! Wine has been made at this chateau since 1618

The La Chapelle is Lafaurie Peyraguey's 2nd wine, but we think the terminology as the brother or sister is a better name. The Lafaurie Peyraguey vineyard is planted with 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle with a vine density maintained at an interesting 6,666 vines per hectare. On average, the vines are 40 years old. With its microclimate and terroir, the noble rot develops perfectly here, giving the wines a structure approaching a Yquem. The Sémillon mainly gives the wine strength and fullness, the Sauvignon provides the fresh tones. This delicious dessert wine is expressive and perfectly balanced. In the nose, this sauterne reveals beeswax, melon, orange peel, prunes. In the mouth this is a full-bodied wine with a high density with exotic fruit size and also a nice freshness. In terms of price, this Sauternes dessert wine is a lot friendlier than the 1er Grand Cru Classé Lafaurie-Peyraguey and is highly recommended by us. Bottle of 0.375 ltr
