YIN YANG - Opposites attract in Graham Beck's captivating new duo

After the release of the Extended Lees Aging from the Artisan series (also available at Grandcruwijnen), the Yin & Yang made its debut in the exclusive Artisan Collection series. The Artisan series is the creative playground for the skilled Graham Beck Cap Classique team to create terroir driven wines, giving them a unique opportunity to create something rare and memorable from a specific vintage.

At the beginning of May 2016, cellar master Pieter Ferreira and winemaker Pierre de Klerk started their final classification tasting of the basic wines of the year. Pierre created an amazing final blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, with a delicate blush color. Both vintners were delighted with this particular blend. Pieter suggested we also look at a mirror image of the blend by using the same components, but with Chardonnay in the lead. They tasted the two blends in black glasses (the ultimate test for any taster, forcing the taster to focus on the intrinsic value, without being influenced by the appearance). The results? They loved both blends, which gave rise to the creation of Yin & Yang.

The Graham Beck by Yin-Yang Cap Classiques beautifully emphasizes the harmonious balance of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Yin exhibits an inner earthly energy, contributing to complexity and structure, while Yang exhibits an outer celestial energy, characterized by supreme elegance and finesse.

With its charming salmon pink hue and vibrant redcurrant and blackcurrant aromas, Yin exudes notes of warm, savory allspice and has great length on the palate. Yang delights with hues of sun-kissed apricot and rich, ripe citrus aromas, while the palate has a lively entry, along with delectable nuances of juicy yellow fruit and lemon zest.
