2016 Fontana Candida Kron IGT Lazio

This Fontana Candida Kron Merlot wine has a deep, clear, ruby red color. The extensive and complex bouquet reveals ripe forest fruits and spicy hints of hints of nuts and tobacco. This delicious wine tastes full, creamy and fruity with its juicy merlot grapes, with soft tannins. The whole is framed by a long and pure final.

Winery Fontana Candida has several vineyards in Italy. The vineyard where this beautiful Kron merlot has its origins is located in one of the most famous areas in the Italian Lazio. The vineyard is located at 300m above sea level, and is a few kilometers away from the Tyrrhenian Sea that can be found north of Sicily and southeast of Corsica. The soil is of mainly volcanic origin, very permeable and quite rocky.

For this fantastic merlot wine, the year started with typical rain and spring temperatures that made the vines bud. After that, the good weather conditions, characteristic of the area, led to a sophisticated development of all the phenological phases of the vines, which resulted in healthy, green, well-kept vineyards. Fine climatic conditions led to early ripening during the second half of the summer. The high, but certainly not too high temperatures, the ventilation through the light western winds, as well as the presence of loose, deep and cool soils rich in phosphorus, potassium and micro elements, already produced ripe grapes at the beginning of September. As a result, compared to previous years, the harvest started early and continued until after the month of October. All grapes were given ample opportunity to fully mature at their own pace, after which they were picked by hand. Soft sunny days, this time without the typical October rains during the harvest, and the perfect conditions of both the vineyards and the grapes were the ideal conditions for this delicious Kron merlot wine. The wine has had 12 months of upbringing.
