2016 Astrales

The Astrales is made of 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). The essence of Astrales is found in the roots of vines between 25 and 80 years old that take root in the clay-limestone soils of Anguix. Spread over small plots, the vines should strive to provide adequate yields and fight against wind, frost and drought. No herbicide is used and sulfur treatments are kept to a minimum to respect the Earth's biodiversity. Vintage 2016: Excellent quality vintage for Los Astrales, characterized by a mild and relatively dry winter, with a cool and damp start to the spring that caused a slight delay in the opening of the vineyard. There were no significant spring frosts and no major summer storms. The months of June and July showed higher temperatures than normal and with a certain dryness, resulting in a healthy, well-ripened and balanced harvest.

The Astrales is aged in French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The Los Astrales has a fruit-driven nose with balanced oak that shows the hand of a winemaker. The Astrales has clear notes of black fruit, cocoa, minerals with well-developed tannins and a nice, long finish. The palate is tight and polished, remove also nicely made.
