2016 Antoine Jobard Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru
After working with his father for several years, Antoine has officially been in charge of this prestigious property since 2007. Although Francois has been enjoying his retirement for several years, he can still be found in the vineyards and cellar almost daily to assist his son. With the arrival of Antoine, the style of the wines has changed slightly. A few minor changes during winemaking have made them more accessible and refined, without compromising on character. Antoine prefers to work with finer lie's than his father. He also bottles the wine in April / May of the second year following the harvest. These are only details, but the quality of the wines has increased further.
This Meursalt "Poruzots" is made from 100% chardonnay grapes. After harvest, the wine is aged on oak for a period of 12 months and then the wine returns in parts to 228 liter barrels for 6 to 10 months. The Poruzots has fine and complex aromas, a wonderful combination of richness and finesse. This wine is delicious for the nose and for the mouth, with concentrated fruit for the nose and with precise flavors of fruit for the mouth. This wine will only get better in the coming years. Over the past years, this wine has always received a score of 90+ from Robert Parker, although this year has no score yet, this wine will certainly not differ greatly from previous years.
Jobard's statement about wine best describes the style that is being pursued:
“If you like Meursaults that are big, broad and oaky, and are as yellow as French headlights, then this may not be the domaine for you. However, if you like Meursaults that are taut, mineral, complex and refined, then Jobard is your man. "
