2015 Tenuta Degli Dei Le Redini

The Tenuta Degli Dei estate has been owned by the Cavalli family since the 1970s. Around the year 2000, the son of fashion guru Roberto Cavalli, Tomasso Cavalli, decided to transform the domain in the heart of Chianti (Tuscany) into a quality wine domain. Tenuta Degli Dei is located in the village of San Leoline, near Panzano. The vineyards are located in the well-known Conca d'Oro valley. It is extremely suitable for viticulture thanks to its soil and its unique orientation to sunlight.

In 2010, the domain was expanded with the purchase of a Chianti Classico vineyard where only Sangiovese grapes are grown. In 2013, the first wine of this is on the market and it is completely in the style of the house. Tomasso gets the help of Gioia Cresti and Carlo Ferrini to make his wine. Two winemakers who have been working together since 1998 and who have made their name for some time. The soil is a mixture of marl and clay. In addition to sangiovese, the French varieties merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot and alicante bouschet have been planted. Tenuta Degli Dei has planted the grape vines at an altitude of 350 to 400 meters, ideal because the Sangiovese grapes get a lot of sun hours but also the coolness of the night. In this way you get a full, powerful wine with a lot of softness in a natural way.

The Tenuta Degli Dei Le Redini is an atypical Tuscan wine (so a Super Tuscan) because it is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Alicante Bouchet. After the manual harvest, the skin soaking takes place for 14 days, followed by the malolactic fermentation in oak. The wine is then aged for 10 months in wood, followed by 6 months in the bottle. In the glass, Cavalli's Le Redini has a ruby red color. In the nose we smell notes of laurel, cherries, licorice and leather. In the mouth, the Redini is Full bodied with red fruit coming back. The wine feels velvety soft as do the tannins. Le Redini is an elegant supertuscan.
