The vineyards of the Italian winery Rubinelli Vajol are located in the heart of Valpolicella in the famous Veneto region. Ten hectares of vineyards in one piece of land define the "Cru VAJOL". The RUBINELLI family is the sole producer of the five classic Valpolicella wines. With the charming mansion, the cellars, the village of Vajol, the landscape covered with vineyards delineated by brick walls and lovingly decorated with olive trees, cherry blossoms and almond trees, the Rubinelli Vajol winery captures exactly the essence of the classic beauty of Valpolicella. The sublime wines of this winery contain a sweet secret: the grapes were stored for a time in the heart of Valpolicella, where they ripen slowly and peacefully in the valley, kissed by the sun and protected by the rolling hills.

The selected grapes are matured/dried in baskets for four months after which they are fermented between January and February at a controlled temperature. Rubinelli then gives the wine plenty of time in large oak barrels for a period of at least 36 months and then the wine is bottled for another 2 years before this top amarone comes on the market. At Rubinelli they make authentic amarones with a nice freshness in which fruit predominates and not the sugars.

In the glass, the Rubinelli Vajol Amarone della Valpolicella Classico has a crimson color with bright intense ruby red reflections. On the nose we get an immediate explosion of cherry, sour cherry, ripe red fruit, blueberry, undergrowth, orange peel and flowers mixed with elegant aromatic spices, tobacco, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and pepper. After some time in the glass, the aromas evolve towards oriental spices. On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced and rewards the palate with velvety warmth. Full bodied but supported by freshness and fine tannins and many amarones cannot say this. Fruits and spices keep coming back. The finish is well balanced with intriguing mineral notes.

The Rubinelli Vajol Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an enjoyable wine and almost meditative. The wine is only made in the good years and all bottles are numbered. Undoubtedly excellent with stews such as an Italian brasato (roasted meat, stewed in red wine) but generally goes well with dishes with a high aromatic value. We advise you to open the bottle some time (2 hours) before serving or to decanter. The Rubinelli Amarone is as a good amarone should be. No excess of sugar but elegant fruit. Suckling also writes this in his review (94/100): ".....As always, this is an elegant Amarone.." Parker writes: "In fact, this Amarone is more tapered and streamlined than most"

Rubinelli Vajol's Amarone comes from the typical grape varieties for amarone, namely: 40% Corvina, 40% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and 5% Oseleta. The Grand Cru vineyards of Rubinelli are located in the Vajol area and are among the most beautiful in the Veneto. In the Vajol, the winery has a unique position because all the vineyards are located around the winery (unlike many others (read most) that have plots throughout the area and the commercial amarone wineries often do not have their own vineyards and buy the majority .

All grapes come exclusively from the fields around Corte Sant'Anna, this gives a special uniqueness to the wine and makes it unmistakable: wine born on tuff. This area was once the sea - imagine a sunny bay. The soil consists of marl formed between the Mesozoic era (150 million years ago) and the Tertiary era (60 million years ago) followed by the origin of the Alps mountains. The soil is very calcareous, ideal for moderating the natural vigor of the vines. Limestone also has spongy properties: the capacity to hold water for long periods of time, allowing it to pass through only when the plants need it. This always keeps the grapes well hydrated. The soil is thin but rich in organic matter which allows the vines to live in perfect nutritional balance. This harmony is reflected in the quality of the wines, which are always elegant and are a full expression, both in their aroma and in the mouth, of their rich polyphenolic multiplicity. Rubinelli Vajol wines are born in the ground before they reach the wine cellar; they are gifts of nature and of the formation of land structures in the Conca del Vajol.
