2015 Finca Allende Gaminde
Finca Allende has its vineyards of approximately 40ha located at an altitude of 420-500 meters located on the north, northeast and northwest so under Atlantic influence in the Rioja Alta. At Allende they work with the typical Rioja grapes Tempranillo, Graciano and to a lesser extent Garnacha, Viura and Malvasia. The vineyards are owned by the winemaker Miguel and Mercedes Angel de Gregorio. Finca Allende was founded in 1995 and, together with Remirez de Ganuza, Tentenublo and Pujanza, belongs to the new style of modern winemakers. They use old vineyards that are processed in a state-of-the-art bodega into very refined beautiful wines (red and white) without an abundance of wood.
The Gaminde from Finca Allende is a new wine first produced in 2015. The Gaminde comes from a vineyard that was planted in 1942. The vineyard is located in the Rioja Alta in Briones at a height of 495 meters on a clay terroir with lots of gravel and boulders. It is produced on the basis of sustainable farming principles with respect for the environment and without the use of herbicides. The picking is manual with double selection (in the vineyard and then in the winery). In the bodega, gravity is used, so one starts at the top and then without the use of pumps and ends up in the oak barrels where the wine is allowed to mature in peace.
The Gaminde is made from 100% Tempranillo and matures in new French oak barrels for 16 months. In the nose we smell balsamic vinegar, black fruit and compote together with mineral notes. In the mouth the wine has a great balance between the fruit and the acids. The terroir and the height make this a fruit driven wine (modern style Rioja). The wine is juicy and very elegant. Only 9000 bottles have been made from this (new) wine from Allende.
