The 2015 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese #5 is super clear, precise and aromatic-spicy on the nose, with very fine aromas of stone fruit and a cool-ish flint-earth aroma. Round, luscious and spicy on the palate, with perfectly ripe but fresh fruit, this is a dense, complex and persistently structured Spätlese. Salt-mineral and perfectly balanced, this has great elegance and expression.
Egon Müller's other estate, Le Gallais, has produced one Spätlese and three Auslesen from the Wiltinger Braine Kupp. Two of the latter have been auctioned. Although the Gold Capsule is already a great Riesling, I feel in love with the pure, extremely precise and delicate Auslese Versteigerung, Art Deco in bottles. If you ever get a chance to taste it, don't miss it.
