Le Clos des Vignes du Mayne makes beautiful Macon wines with the greatest respect for the country. This vineyard is located in the village of Cruzille, in the heart of the Macon on a slope of the Saône valley. The terroir consists of fine sludge and limestone which gives the wine a nice mineral character. This delicious white wine is a 100% chardonnay and only because this wine comes from the Macon and not from the heart of Burgundy, it costs half but is certainly not worse. The price and quality nowadays explains the popularity of the white wines from the Macôn because the word Burgundy regardless of quality is already driving up the price. The wine has had a 12 month sur lie (so on its own yeast / lees) and has only been filtered very lightly afterwards. The Pierres Blanches is a very elegant wine with ripe fruit and finesse and we taste a fine minerality in the palate. Excellent balance between fruit and acidity, making it a delicious aperitif wine but also perfect with seafood.
