The Finca El Tomillo vineyard is located at 1,210 meters above sea level in Gualtallary in an alluvial range formed by the LasTunas river. The amazing micro-terroir first has a layer of sand that reaches a depth of 60 cm below the surface with a salty layer of calcium carbonate underneath. The chardonnay vineyard was planted in 1988 and has a north / south location. The grapes are harvested by hand and after very light pressing the must fermentes in new French oak barrels. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in these barrels with the yeasts present on the grapes. After fermentation, malolactic conversion takes place and the wine is allowed to mature for 10-12 months in the oak sur lie (ie with the lees).
This La Linterna Chardonnay Gualtallary # 1 has beautiful energetic notes of nectarine, lemon and mandarin with a seductive delicate scent of orange blossom and jasmine. The wine is delicate with an elegant purity and a lively ripe acidity, harmoniously balanced by a creamy texture, ending with a chalky twist. This Bemberg chardonnay beats many (to almost all) Burgundy chardonnays that often cost a multiple. The wine is drunk but will improve over the years and has a drinking window of at least 15 years. The wine has received 94/100 points from James Suckling. This Linterna Chardonnay is so beautiful that you should not drink it too cold and preferably around 10-12 degrees. The wine is a perfect accompaniment to fish and seafood and also elegant to veal and chicken dishes.
Bemberg Estate Wines is located in the Argentinian wine region of Mendoza, the region with the largest area of wine-growing land in Argentina. The winery owns around 3,200 hectares of vineyards and has been producing great wines for years and is always passionate about further development. That is how the Bemberg family came up with the idea of selecting the very best vineyards together with Daniel Pi, who was named Best Argentinian Winemaker, and turned them into phenomenal wines. These single vineyards wines represent beautiful micro-terroirs in different regions of Argentina. The numbers produced were not large, so the family decided to keep them for their own use. However, when the wines turned out to be of very good quality, it was nevertheless decided to not only keep these exclusive wines for themselves, but also to put them on the market.
