Sara Pérez is in charge of the Clos Martinet family estate and is daughter of José Luis Pérez, one of the important figures in the Spanish wine world. Together with her husband René Barbier Jr. (Clos Mogador) Sara Pérez owns and vinifies beautiful wines on Venus La Universal, among others, but they are actually constantly looking for the diamonds and they know that a unique country produces unique wines. This has now been proven with the iconic Clos Mogador, Venus Universal and Espectacle wines. The Catalan name Vinya La Vuit means: The Vineyard of the Eight and are the 8 now well-known winemakers and Sommeliers Sara Perez, Ester Nin, Nuria Perez, Montse Mateo, Iban Foix Rene, Barbier, Julian Basté and Philippe Thévenon.
This great wine La Vinya del Vuit is also made by the famous husband Sara Perez & Rene Barbier (Clos Mogador). This over-the-top Priorat is a blend of Cariñena and Garnatxa from more than 80 years old tiny vineyard that are organically maintained and plowed and harvested with the help of a mule. The soil consists mainly of slate (Llicorella) located at more than 350 meters with a south orientation. The wine has matured for 18 months in French and Austrian oak barrels and Rene and Sarah then keep the wine in the cellar for many years because they feel that this wine is always drunk way too early. Only around 2000 bottles of this topper were made (and this is also the maximum production) and are only released to the official importers of Mas Martinet and Clos Mogador (and then only a handful of boxes) so we are happy and especially proud that we as an importer of Rene and Sara can offer this wine.
95/100 Parker
FACT: Each vintage of this iconic Priorat wine gets a different label, so it's also great to collect.
The La Vinya del Vuit comes from the great Priorat year 2014. That year is characterized by a unique situation, because it was relatively cool and there was more than enough water during the winter and spring and this brings very elegant wines and this Vinya del Vuit also has received no less than 95/100 Parker points. The La Vinya del Vuit is from a warm vineyard that yields no more than 100 grams of grapes per plant. This Priorat is fresh, a little lighter with fresh red fruit but with some oxygen come some dark fruit (blackberry), leather, cedar wood. In the mouth the wine is smooth and has fine tannins and the freshness of citrus fruits but with the typical mineral notes. This is a must-have for the lover of Priorat wines and in our opinion belongs to the top of this region, but in the end we are also big fans of Priorat and also testify that in addition to the wines of Sara Perez we also import the Clos Mogador and.
