2014 Domaine de Marotte Cuvée Eline BIO

The Cuvée Eline from Domaine de Marotte comes from the Côtes du Ventoux and is a blend of Mourvèdre 45%, Syrah 45%, Grenache 10%. from vineyards between 35-65 years old. The vineyard is biologically managed (ECOCERT) so no fertilization or chemical weed protection. The harvest is manual. The grapes are partly crushed and partly destemmed. Fermentation maximum. 30°C, about 3 weeks. The "transfer" of the wine is done as much as possible by gravity, after which the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels of 400 and 600 liters (demi muids). In the glass, this full bodied red wine has a ruby to deep red color. In the nose fresh notes of cherries, blackberries and plums, liquorice, slightly vanilla and oak. In the mouth the wine is concentrated, firm with nice tannins with candied dark fruit in a nice balance with the oak and a long finish. This is an ideal wine with grills or a cheese platter.

Domaine de Marotte is a winery whose owners are originally from the Netherlands, they say themselves: "Dutch wine, from France!". The owners are Daan and Elvire van Dijkman and the winery is located in Provence, in the south of France. Domaine de Marotte roughly stands for ' favorite hobby' and was owned by the 'van Dijkman' family before it came into the hands of the current owners.
