2014 Lopez de Heredia Vina Cubillo Tondonia

The extension of the Lopez de Heredia winery is being made by the Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Faced with this challenge, Zaha Hadid proposes a package from a rectangular shape, transformed into an organic element that can be compared to a carafe. Given the required features of the standard, the structural system of “dry joint” was formed by sharply cutting plates vertically and the exterior finish with gold paint. This new space houses a shopping center and tasting room with an interior that maintains external modulation, with the structural elements that give rigidity to the envelope and reflect the housing of the illuminated shelves, from the products to the warehouse. The connection of this extension with the rest of the warehouse is via a sculptural roof and runs through the patio of the winery, creating a network of metal lines that are part of the new pavement and new access to the facilities of Lopez de Heredia too serve.
