Borgogno is one of the very first and probably the oldest wineries in Piedmont. The Italian winery strongly believes in classical and traditional philosophy, whatever its strength; For years, compliance with these traditions has been passed on to future generations. Borgogno owns 13 hectares of vineyards, 9 of which are planted with the Nebbiolo grape. The wines are all vinified in the traditional way to produce unique and structured wines. The wines are produced sustainably.
The Borgogno is for us one of the most special and amazing Barolos that we can offer (by the way, only a handful of bottles have been made. The late Cesare Borgogno was the youngest of five siblings in the 1920s. A striking and charismatic figure who was at the time In charge of Borgogno, Cesare began preserving the very best harvests in the wineries' cellars in 1920. Eventually, these were the dates: 2014, 2003 and 1982. Cesare blended these dates in different percentages and turned them into one top wine: Borgogno Cesare The Barolo enthusiast will certainly recognize the dates because these vintages are seen as the top for Barolo and the Cesare is therefore a Barolo which has the best of the last 50 years in 1 bottle!
In the glass, the amazing powerhouse from the phenomenal wine year of 2006 is deep garnet red. This barolo has an intense nose with spicy aromas such as cocoa, mint, black cherries, blackberries and leather enhanced by beautiful accents of dried flowers, spices, and black pepper. The taste is a real sensation, decanting is a must and then fantastic flavors emerge. In the mouth the Borgogno Cesare has very refined refined tannins which are nicely fused and this makes the wine velvety. The Cesare is perhaps one of the most beautiful Barolos and despite the serious price, this is a pleasure to drink and is worth every drop.
