BODEGAS EMILIO MORO BET ON R+D + i

At a time when cost-cutting and restructuring flood the corporate landscape,

Bodegas Emilio Moro continues to focus on research, development and

innovation.

In Bodegas Emilio Moro it is very clear that, despite these winds of crisis that are

blowing over the nation, to continue betting on research, development and innovation is

a key factor in maintaining a competitive presence in the market. Therefore, on 19th

April, the Research Institute of Vine and Wine belonging to the ULE, presented the

winery’s technicians with the R&D work conducted in 2011, as a result of the

collaboration that the aforementioned Institute maintains with Bodegas Emilio Moro.

In the meeting held at the facilities in Pesquera de Duero, winery technicians and

researchers highlighted the development and conclusion of the following research

projects: "Evaluation of nutritional status (soil - plant) of the winery’s vineyards ";"

Results of the test using leonardite as a substitute for manure and chelates, with the

aim of developing greater environmental sensitivity";" Assessment of the health of plant

material provided by the Villanueva nursery "; "Health Selection Program for buds

obtained from selected clones ", and " Development of nutritional models for

Tempranillo as the result of the agreement between Bodegas Emilio Moro, Research

Institute of Vine and Wine and Supercomputing Center Foundation of Castile and

León"

Technicians from the winery, expressed their concerns to the researchers about

translating, in a practical manner, the conclusions of the research projects to their daily

activities at the winery, both from a viticultural as well as oenological standpoint. At the

same time the foundation was laid to focus research efforts during 2012, as well as

possible future approaches relevant to the winery.
